Overview:
This excursion will lead you into the rural heartland of Bali. As you travel inland, notice the drastic change in landscape as you explore a region of Bali that seems to have been missed by modernization. Your first stop on this unique tour is Pura Taman Ayun. Founded by the King of Mengwi in 17th century, this popular temple is famed for its multi tiered shrines. The next stop will be Lake Bratan. A small temple called Pura Ulun Danu Bratan can be found on the edge of this beautiful lake erected in honor of the goddess of the lake Dewi Danau. Stroll along Candi Kuning market, where locally grown fruits, vegetable and flowers are sold. Lunch here and continue towards Jatiluwih, where breathtaking valleys lined with rice paddies give way to dense jungle scenery. Eventually you will find yourself in the shadow of Gunung Batukaru, Bali's second highest mountain. On this final leg of your day tour explore the Pura Luhur Batukaru temple. This ancient temple complex has a number of separate sanctuaries and is connected by mountain trails and bubbling springs.
